The Tilba Two Story was built in 1894 as the local post office and post-master’s residence for Tilba region. Today the villages of Central Tilba and Tilba Tilba – and much of their surrounds - are National Trust-classified and as a result have had their unique historical atmosphere preserved.

Alluvial and reef gold were discovered in the area in the late 1800s and led to mining boom of the early 20th century.

In its heyday Central Tilba boasted a library, a school of arts, police station, court house, two butchers, a blacksmith and a post office. It is this post-office that survives to this day as the beautifully restored Two Story B & B.
